Isaac Newton

Lately in Room 6, we have been learning about a scientist named Sir Isaac Newton.  For the past couple of weeks we have been doing science experiments related to him. We also did lot's of research about him in groups. While doing this work around Isaac newton we all learnt what a fair test is, a fair test is an experiment where you do something in the same position and place and don't change anything. Our goal was to create a slideshow about Issac Newton's laws and explain how a rocket can work in space. Sadly I didn't explain how a rocket can work in space yet.

I did some research on Isaac Newton and watched some videos about the different laws of his such as inertia, acceleration, and force and gravity. Before doing this I didn't know anything about the Isaac Newton's laws of motion, but learnt lot's through research and videos.  

What I did well : Added lot's of information about his laws of motion

What I found challenging : Finishing it on time and understanding the scientific language

Next steps : Adding more information about Issac Newton's life 

The Legend Of Hiawatha

This week in Room 6, I learned about the Legend Of Hiawatha in my reading group mars.  Lately, my group has been reading a chapter book called Indian In The Cupboard, each week we have been doing activities about the chapters. With my Legend Of Hiawatha activity I picked that story to make a DLO about it because it sounded very interesting and it was Hiawatha was known as a peacemaker he wanted it to be peaceful and he united all the tribes of the Iroquois nations to fight the enemy .  I am glad I choose this because I didn't have a clue who Hiawatha was and he was a Nobel man and he was very different from the rest, Hiawatha name also means "he makes rivers".

 Overall it was quite interesting to learn about because now I have some knowledge about Indian history and how they used to fight. 

I really enjoyed this activity, for me, it was enjoyable because it was nice to learn some information about all the Indian Tribes in the Iroquois nations. Also, I found it very challenging, I had to manage my time in completing this work and try my best to finish it to a high standard. Next time I will try and make my work more interesting and add some more detail to it.  For me, it was also hard to locate the tribes in the Iroquois Nations map and show where everything is on the map.

Personal Sin

WALT - Explain what is meant by personal sin

This Term in Room 6 we have been learning about personal sin. The task was to make a DLO of examples of personal sin. I found it challenging finishing on time. I enjoyed drawing. Next time I will add more detail.  

Where is the Love?

In Room 6 we have been researching about South Sudan and the conflict that is happening there. Also we have been learning about how Caritas has been helping them and how we can help. I made a graffiti art showing the conflict that is happening in South Sudan I think that my art brings a good message. The message I wanted to get through was stop the war and have peace because where is the love in South Sudan there is only war.

Interesting Internet Research

WALT - Use appropriate skills and technologies to find and use a range of texts for specific purposes.

When I made this DLO I enjoyed adding in my own pictures and making a quiz.

What I found challenging was trying to finish my DLO on time.

I think that my next steps are to finish my work on time and at a higher standard.

Next time I will add more questions to my quiz, also make my work more exciting.

Waitangi Day Landwars

WALT: Explore how the changes in the Treaty of Waitangi can have different consequences. Explain when and why the New Zealand land wars occurred.  

When creating my DLO I enjoyed learning new knowledge on the Treaty of Waitangi. 

Next time I will add more pictures and make my DLO more interesting.

Something I did well was put in lots of information.

Something I found challenging was putting the information from the articles I read into my own words.

Amazing Advent

WALT : Describe what Advent means to Catholics and how we celebrate it.

WALT : Combine and Condense ideas and information from a range of texts to form and synthesis a new idea. In Room 6 we had to create a D.L.O about Advent, I enjoyed this project because I got to learn some new facts about Advent. I need to work on adding more detail and doing my work faster. 

My Influences of Jesus Knowledge

WALT : Think about the individuals/groups that have influenced your knowledge and understanding Jesus.   This week in Room 6 we had to focus on the Church Strand, we had to create an image that displays influences in your learning of Jesus teachings.  I enjoyed getting to make a D.L.O to show my learning because I like to make my work stand out. I found it challenging trying to finish my work fast. Next time I will make my D.L.O look more eye catching. 

Adding Decimals

WALT : Use a range of multiplication strategies when operating on whole numbers and fractions. In Room 6 we have been learning about how to add decimals, our task was to learn how to add decimals from the resources from our class site. From our learning we had to then Create a D.L.O to show our learning. I enjoyed getting to create a D.L.O to show my learning. What I found challenging was doing the worksheet because it was a challenge for me to manage my time. Next time I could finish my work earlier and focus on adding more detail to my D.L.O.

How to Convert Between fractions, decimals, and percentages

In Math we had to create a D.L.O about how to How to Convert Between fractions, decimals, and percentages. We learnt about how to do it by using the recourse we got given on the class site about how to do it. We also had to do a worksheet about How to Convert Between fractions, decimals, and percentages. At first I found it really hard because I never knew how to do it, but then when I was exploring the websites we got given, I began to understand it.

What I did well : Finishing my math work faster than usual.

What I need to work on : More detail.

What I enjoyed : Getting to create a D.L.O

7 Sacrament Symbols

In Room 6 we had to create a D.L.O showing the 7 Sacraments symbols. I found it hard drawing the symbols. I enjoyed getting to present my work in a drawing and adding in some detail in my pictures. I need to work on adding in more information.

Pate Drum

In Room 6 we had to choose a Tongan instrument t and do a D.L.O about it. I choose the Pate Drum because I thought it was interesting.

I need to work on adding more detail. I enjoyed learning new facts about the Pate Drum. I found it hard trying to draw the Pate drum. 

How to order Decimals D.L.O

In Room 6 our task was to create a D.L.O to show our learning during math time about ordering decimals. For me it was pretty hard at first but then I just used resources to find out how to order decimals from the class site.  What I found hard was managing my time to finish my D.L.O. What I enjoyed was getting to be creative with presenting my work. Next time I will add more detail and explain how to order decimals better.

Virtues

In class we were learning about all the Virtues we did lot's of activities all around the Virtues. After we had done all the activities we had to do a D.L.O about our learning about Virtues. Next time I will try on doing something other than a slideshow because I have been doing lot's of slideshows to present my work. I did a good job of adding detail this time. I enjoyed learning about the Virtues because before we did this work I knew nothing really about the Virtues. 

Greek Mythology The Seven Sisters

In reading we had to make a D.L.O about a country of our choice and research information about it. I choose Ancient Greece Greek Mythology because I thought it would be interesting and for me I thought it was very interesting to learn about the Seven Sisters. 

What I did well : Adding more information than I usually do.

What I enjoyed : Learning about  Ancient Greece Greek Mythology.

What I need to work on : More pictures and to have more eye catching work.

Matariki

In Room 6 for reading we had to do a D.L.O about how Matariki is celebrated in New Zealand, also we had to explain what Matariki is. Maybe next time I could try and use something different from a slideshow. I really enjoyed learning new information about Matariki and how people used to celebrate it.

How you should be showing respect

In Room 6 we all had to do a D.L.O about showing respect. We did this D.L.O because in class lately we have not been showing much respect. I hope I followed the task correctly.

What I did well : Clear text and a clear background.
What I need to work on : Adding more detail.

Angles D.L.O

In Room 6, lately we have been learning about angles in maths, what they are, how to measure them, and the types of angles. Our task was to watch videos about angles, do 4 worksheets about measuring angles, read through a slideshow about angles, and then show our learning by making a D.L.O. We were meant to finish it in 2 weeks but we had to  extend the time limit.

What I enjoyed : Showing my learning in a D.L.O.

What I need to work on : Having more information about angles.

What I did well : Creativity.
